Betty Adera Foundation
The Return To School Scholarship Fund project
Unlocking potentials
Project Summary
This is an education scholarship fund dedicated to supporting teen and young mothers from Nairobi’s informal settlements to return to school and complete their education. Driven by a belief in second chances and the transformative power of education, the fund is sustainably financed through a social enterprise that produces and sells affordable disposable sanitary towels. This model not only addresses period poverty—which often contributes to school dropout—but also reinvests proceeds into scholarships, creating a dignified, self-sustaining cycle of empowerment for vulnerable girls and young mothers.
