I am a specialist in Public Health, with twenty years’ experience in design, implementation, management and consultancy in Sexual reproductive health & rights (including HIV); and Young people and Women’s empowerment programs. I hold a Master of Public Health degree. I’ve served in Senior Management positions for 16 years. I’m experienced in management of USG [USAID & CDC] and non-USG funded projects. My work has entailed partnerships management, program & projects oversight, technical assistance / consultancy, sub-granting and capacity building for quality, expanded and sustainable programs and health/organizational systems. I have extensive experience in strategic and work planning, reporting, budget management, monitoring and evaluation with use of data for decision making. I’m a people manager, trained on International Human Resource Management and experienced in technical leadership of Project Management Teams and ensuring staff meet targets while fostering team work and accountability.

I’m currently support Public Health and Economic Empowerment Programming at Betty Adera Foundation and also consult for Grassroot Soccer in Kenya and Malawi for Adolescents and Young People’s Sexual Reproductive Health Services and Rights, including strategy development, service delivery improvement, strategic partnerships and technical writing for new business. Prior to that, I worked with Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EFPAF) for 10 years (September 2009 – September 2019); where I held various Senior Management and Technical Assistance positions. My last Role at EGPAF was Technical Assistance for adolescents’ HIV and SRH work in selected EGPAF Countries in Africa region including Malawi, Lesotho, Uganda and Kenya; While also doubling as Program Manager for Western Kenya Region, overseeing various Pediatric & Adolescent HIV Projects. I previously served as Project Manager at AMREF Health Africa in Kenya for a USAID funded OVC and Community HIV care program, and was then also nominated by USAID to represent the USG supported OVC implementing partners in the National OVC Steering Committee. I worked at YWCA (Young Women’s Christian Association) of Kenya as Head of Programs including Acting as Country Director. While with the YWCA, I was nominated by World Council of Churches as a Representative of Young
people in Africa in the Global Ecumenical Reference Group for HIV and AIDS Initiative in Africa. At YWCA, I also coordinated a consortium project for adolescents’ empowerment, HIV and sexual reproductive health in a partnership of 7 giant youth serving organizations including: YWCA, YMCA, The Red Cross Society, Presidents Awards, Girl Guides and Scouts.

In 2009 to 2014, I served as the focal point at EGPAF, in a CDC funded National program providing technical oversight for National adaptation and roll out of Positive Health and Dignity Prevention (PHDP) and other evidence informed HIV combination prevention interventions. I worked under the leadership of NASCOP (National AIDS Control Program) and National TB Program in close collaboration with CDC and USAID, National and County Health authorities and implementing partners. Of which I received an award of Excellence in Technical Support of a National Program for Adaptation and Adoption of Evidence Informed HIV interventions. I’ve managed USG funded sub-granting projects for CBOs, NGOs and the Disciplined Services. I’ve participated in development of documents including for OVC services quality Improvement, Adolescents treatment literacy guide, KHPIAT (Kenya HIV Prevention Interventions Assessment Tool). Teachers guide – Matters HIV, various EBIs (combination prevention), Adolescent and Young peoples’ health policies & strategies, Curriculums for differentiated service deliveries for adolescents, PHDP etc. I’ve served in various National & County technical working groups. I’m trained on USAID rules and regulations, PMD Pro (Project Management for Development Professionals), Manuscript writing, Research ethics, Gender & sexuality diversity, People Management, Primary Health Care, M&E etc.
